Background: Patients with transfusion-dependent β -thalassemia (TDT) often experience several endocrine complications, including diabetes mellitus (DM). In TDT, the reliability of glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) assessment is compromised due to elevated erythrocytes turnover and frequent transfusions.
